Hello to all you craft beer lovers out there!
I’m beyond thrilled to announce the beginning of the Wrightsville Beach Brewery Eleven Percent giving program--what we’re calling the brewery’s philanthropic focus. Having both worked with youth in wilderness therapy, youth development and social work settings before entering the brewing world, Jud and I have a heart for supporting organizations that empower underprivileged children. We’re also big animal lovers and outdoor enthusiasts (seriously, I pretty much never want to be inside) who believe in preserving the beautiful environmental playground that we all share.
To honor these passions, we’ve carefully chosen to support 11 local organizations over the next year that we believe are doing great work in our coastal home. We’ll revisit these selections at the end of each year, occasionally choosing new organizations to support. We wish we could give enormous checks to all the nonprofits in Wilmington, but until we’re brewing as many beers as Budweiser, our resources are limited!
This is how it works: Wrightsville Beach Brewery will donate 11% of proceeds from our revolving “give-back beer” to a different non-profit partner each month. In December (the season of giving), 11% of proceeds from all our beers will go to supporting our 11 non-profit partners. Why 11%? We were raised to believe that one should always give 10% of their gross income to the causes they believe in. Being hopeless overachievers, we thought we’d “do-em one extra” by giving 11% because...well, why not?
